Service in Schools Libguide: Leadership Institute

Service Leaders

The Leadership Institute is an exciting opportunity for NYC public high school students in grades 10-12 to build their leadership skills over the course of a five-day in-person Institute during spring break and an after-school work session throughout the spring. During these sessions, students worked in small groups to learn about and develop service lessons on animal welfare, disability rights, fast fashion and fabric waste, and housing and homelessness. Participating high school student leaders facilitated these lessons for students in grades 3-5 at the Youth Service SummitIn addition, student leaders created issue boards to raise awareness about these topics, using advertising techniques they learned from the Paley Center for Media. View the student leaders' issue boards from this year and PSA posters from prior years below.
