Service in Schools Libguide: Homelessness and Poverty

Homelessness and Poverty

Homelessness impacts thousands of people in New York City, including over 100,000 students. People who are homeless may stay in a shelter, in a car, at a friend's or family member's house, or on the street. Poverty is both a cause of homelessness and is exacerbated when people lack permanent housing.

Choose from the books below to see the variety of experiences and challenges facing youth who are homeless or growing up in poverty, and find ways to help increase housing stability.
