Race Against Waste

Race Against Waste

Race Against Waste is a collaboration between Service in Schools (SIS) and the Office of Sustainability to support teacher pairs from grades 4-8 in leading students through an investigation of waste in their community, and then developing a service-learning project that helps their community to reduce and/or reuse a source of waste.

Through the Race Against Waste program, students plan, carry out, and document a service-learning project focused on reducing and/or reusing a community's waste through action and/or advocacy, while learning from experts in the field of waste reduction. Check out the student projects from the 2022-23 Race Against Waste program.
