Service in Schools Libguide: Teens Advocating for Change

March 11, 2021 Presentations

Teens Advocating for Change (TAC) program, first launched in 2020-21, is a youth service-learning and advocacy program for students in grades 10-12. Students participated in six live virtual sessions to engage in research, action, and reflection on one of the following topics: housing, disability rights, LGBTQ+ rights, or fast fashion. During the live sessions, students worked in groups to research the topic using a variety of media resources, interview an expert from a community-based organization (CBO), and analyze professional advocacy campaigns. Each group created an advocacy campaign that students shared with an authentic audience of peers, families, educators, and CBO partners at the Teens Advocating for Change Showcase on March 11, 2021You can view students' presentations and advocacy campaigns below.
