Food Access, Insecurity, Waste

Food insecurity is the lack of access to consistent, healthy meals. About 1.1 million people in New York City experienced food insecurity, even before the pandemic increased the need across the nation. At the same time, there are growing movements to expand access to fresh foods and to implement community-based gardening and farming. 

Read on to glimpse the variety of experiences and challenges facing youth who are food insecure and learn about solutions for increasing access to healthy, fresh foods.
