Explore the one-week camps for students entering grade 6 in September. All these camps take place Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm each day.

Expedition Staten Island Zoo: Exploring Animal Behavior

Location: Staten Island Zoo in West Brighton, Staten Island

Interested in immersing yourself in wildlife conservation and exploring how humans impact the natural world? Join us on Expedition Staten Island Zoo to experience what it’s like to be a real field researcher! Each day explore a different step in the investigation of animal behavior, from asking a question and making observations to analyzing data and drawing conclusions. Work with a team of fellow young scientists to conduct research using the Zoo's animals, exhibits, and biofacts, while meeting with zookeepers, educators, veterinary technicians, and researchers about careers in the zoological world.

Animal Architects

What do bird wings and jet engines have in common? Let your imagination run wild with bioinspiration! Explore wildlife and habitats from around the world and learn how structure, materials, and other inventions have been inspired by nature. Join us for a week of exhibit visits, animal demonstrations, hands-on activities, and nature exploration.

Junior Zoologists

Location: Genovesi Environmental Study Center in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn

Do you want to be a zoologist or a veterinarian when you grow up? Get ready to experience an exciting week interacting with and observing the animals at the Genovesi Environmental Study Center! Join us to learn about animals and their habitats and becoming an expert animal caregiver. Throughout the week, junior zoologists will support the animals' needs and routines by building stimulating habitats and enrichment toys, and promoting socialization through handling. Campers will also visit our urban farm to discover our herbivores' diets and harvest produce for feeding!
